‘Full house’ for Springhill activity

It was ‘eyes down’ for residents at Springhill Care Home recently as they took part in a fun bingo activity.

Everyone was feeling lucky so a group of residents and staff decided to play a game of bingo. There were plenty of fun prizes and goodies on offer including pampering items and chocolate.

We spent a lovely afternoon enjoying the game, and it was decided that another bingo session should be on the cards soon.

Easter hats on show

A recent competition saw residents from across Springhill Care Home get in the Easter spirit.

Residents from each floor took part in the Easter hat competition, with staff joining in and offering support.

Judging was carried out by Bernadette, our deputy manager, who decided the winning team was created by Oakhill residents, with second place going to Treetops suite.

Also pictured is one of the Lifestyle team modelling the hats, and all the entries on display together. All five teams did a fantastic job.

Bonsai trees grow on us

Accrington and District Bonsai Society came in to Springhill Care Home to show specimens of their bonsai trees and delivered an interesting presentation about how they are grown and kept.

It was a very interesting afternoon, we learned lots and hope they will come again in the future.

A roaring day out with the Rovers

A great day was had by all when a small group from Springhill Care Home set off for Ewood Park, Blackburn, to see the Rovers play Stoke City.

Wishes came true after we discovered a number of Rovers fans in our midst, and Victoria Huntriss contacted the club who very kindly donated complementary tickets that meant some of our residents could attend the game.

We went with “Oomph” in their specially adapted van, we had seats reserved when we arrived and had a great view of the game and got to enjoy delicious pies during the game as well!

A disappointing score as Rovers lost 1-0 but a memorable day trip out.

Springhill announces partnership with Relaxation Practitioners

Springhill Care Home  are excited to announce a partnership with “The Relaxation Practitioners”.

They will be delivering a complementary therapy service, funded by Springhill Care Home, delivering a type of therapy called the M-Technique. This treatment can be life enhancing and will include individuals who may not able to attend other planned activities that are available each day.

The M-Technique is a light pressure touch technique that is delivered like massage. It is often described as a ‘spiritual dance’ on the skin which encourages a calm, soothed mind. The ‘M’ Technique is designed to put the touch back into care and is suitable for individuals when other conventional therapies are not. The therapy can aid relaxation and improve wellbeing, giving them an overall feeling of well-being and belonging.

The company's ethos is not just about providing ‘therapy’ but also about holding conversations, connecting and making a difference to enhance quality of life.  Individuals who meet the criteria for treatment will begin sessions in April. People can access six consecutive sessions in any one period.

The Relaxation Practitioners are professional practitioners who hold nationally recognised qualifications in complementary therapies and are self-regulated by governing bodies such as the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

The Relaxation Practitioners may also be able to provide privately funded therapy. For any further information, please speak to a member of the Lifestyles Team who will be able to discuss this in more detail
