New Year New Hero!

A huge congratulations to Arlene Fletcher who has been given the first Caring Hero Award of 2019.

She was nominated for her kind and caring attitude and was nominated by her colleague Beryl.

Arlene who works at Springhill Care Home in Accrington as a Health Care Assistant, stood out to Beryl for her outstanding care, always going above and beyond for our residents.

Beryl said: “Arlene is a joy to have around the home and is very supportive to residents, visitors and staff, it’s great to be able to nominate a colleague for this Caring Hero Award, and Arlene deserves the recognition.”

Well done Arlene!

Well done to our first golden moment winners

on .

Staff at Springhill Care Group are being given the chance submit their ‘golden moments’ to be entered into an exciting new wellbeing initiative.

As part of the Oomph! Wellness support programme Springhill Care are pleased to have launched this initiative to encourage and share great moments within the care home environment.

The first winners drawn were: Emma (Birch Green Care Home, Skelmersdale), Shannon (Riversway Nursing Home, Bristol) and Neelum & Ruslana (Springhill Care Home, Accrington).

Donna Briggs, Managing Director of the care group, said: “Golden Tickets showcase really special moments that our teams share with residents, which might otherwise not be truly celebrated or recorded, this will help to ensure we capture these special moments and to help acknowledge and praise our staff team.”

The scheme launched in November and staff are being reminded of how they can nominate.

Donna added: “Take note of a golden moment that you have had with a resident or if you have seen a colleague have a golden moment take note and write it on the golden ticket. Put your ticket into the golden post box – all golden moments will be placed in a draw.”

The winner will be selected and given £150 and a certificate.

Matt Hamblin, Senior Business manager at Oomph! Wellness said: "The Golden ticket initiative is a fantastic way to showcase those meaningful interactions that happen in the care home every single day.
“These golden moments should be celebrated and shared with the families and friends of the residents, they are great examples of person-centred activities staff have shared with their loved ones.

“Springhill Care Group have really grasped this concept and made it their own! Congratulations to all the winners."

Thank you for our wonderful nativity scene

on .

We would like to say a huge thank you to Susan for donating a wonderful nativity scene to Springhill Care Home in memory of her brother Colin.

The nativity figurines were lovingly hand painted by Susan and they tell the tale of an extra special Christmas birthday past.

There will be lots of family and friends visiting their loved ones over the festive period and they too can admire the nativity scene that is proudly displayed, in our care centre foyer (to the right of reception).

Thank you for your kind donation Susan, the nativity scene to remember Colin is absolutely beautiful and will be treasured by us all at Springhill Care Home.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Recovery Choir put on a festive concert for residents

on .

Residents at Accrington’s Springhill Care Home recently welcomed a Christmas carol concert from the Recovery Choir from Inspire.

The choir are singing for recovery and wanted to “give something back” to their local community and have been singing for other homes and organisations throughout Accrington this season and throughout the year.

We were treated to a Christmas sing song and festive jokes and it was a lovely afternoon.

We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who got involved to make it a whole lot of festive fun!

Carol concert for residents

Pupils from St Peter’s Primary School choir treated us all to a delightful morning of Christmas cheer recently.

Their lovely voices succeeded in getting us all in the Christmas spirit as they sang and danced their hearts out for us.

A massive thank you to all the children and staff from St Peter’s school for taking time out and visiting us.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas from the Springhill team.
