In a new series of articles, we meet Springhill Care Home’s team.
Sharon Taylor is a health care assistant about to embark on training to become an assistant practitioner.
My experience to date stems from working in health and social care for 20 years, in both residential and nursing settings, but when I joined Springhill Care Home in 2017, I never looked back.
Alongside an excellent and professional team, I’ve been working as a heath care assistant (HCA) in palliative care at the home. During my time here I’ve enhanced my skills by undertaking a variety of in-house training which includes a mathematics course and in-house development sessions which have allowed me to perform my daily duties to the highest standard.
My day to day responsibilities include supporting residents with all aspects of their personal care alongside ensuring individual wellbeing needs are met at every step of the way.
Delivering end of life care comes with its challenges, but the relationships I develop with people and their families are important and I am extremely proud to be part of their journeys.
In September I will embark on the next step in my career at Springhill after being given the opportunity to train as an assistant practitioner in palliative care.
I’m passionate about my role in health and social care and I do my utmost to uphold Springhill’s values of dignity, love and respect to the best of my ability.
